First Lady may have violated Illinois election laws

First Lady Michelle Obama reportedly violated Illinois election laws by encouraging voters to support President Obama at a polling place in Chicago Thursday morning.

Election laws in Illinois prohibit anyone from engaging in “any political discussion within any polling place,” or “within 100 feet of any polling place.”

The first lady was reportedly speaking with other voters in a polling place and urged them to keep President Obama’s agenda going.
“Technical violation, perhaps. But what are mere technical violations of voting laws to the Obama administration!” said Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, a conservative, non-partisan, public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption.

Illinois law has a broad-ban on any person engaging in political discussion within the polling place.

“Even if her conversations didn’t constitute electioneering, they almost certainly violated the broader Sec. 17-29 ban on engaging in ‘any political discussion within any polling place,’” said Charlie Spies, an election attorney with Clark Hill, PLC.

I think its pretty safe to move this one from the "may have" column and put it in the "PROBABLY DID VIOLATE THE LAW" column.    I'm just saying.

Where Are Obama's Jobs?

From an email I received yesterday about Obama's supposed "Summer of Recovery" : (the emphasis is mine)

Two months ago, President Obama proclaimed this summer the "Summer of Economic Recovery," insisting that his $862 billion stimulus bill has yet to make its biggest impact and that we've "turned the corner" on the economy.

But where is the proof behind the president's statement? Labor Day is almost here and there has not been one tangible sign of economic improvement over the last 60 days. If anything, we see data that points to a more severe economic situation than predicted. Last week, new unemployment claims rose to 479,000, with another 19,000 Americans losing their jobs in just one week.

So I ask President Obama to please show us where exactly the recovery has been.

The stimulus bill failed miserably, yet the White House continues to credit it with having a positive impact on the economy and saving thousands of jobs across the country. But it's clear to anyone with a good business sense that the White House's propaganda is just plain wrong. Small businesses are the backbone of America, and only when they have the financial security to begin hiring in extensive numbers will economic stability return. And that will only happen when President Obama and the Democratic Congress finally realize that it's the private sector that creates real jobs, not the government.

America's economic recovery and the restoration of jobs will not be a result of government spending or taxpayer-funded bailouts, but rather private industry being relieved of high taxes and backbreaking government regulations. Skyrocketing corporate taxes have crippled the private sector and slowed economic growth for the second straight quarter.

The Obama Administration has failed to fix the economy because their strategy is to grow the size of the government and raise our taxes to pay for it. Fiscal conservative policies of small government, low taxes and minimal regulations are the answer to America's economic troubles. Unless we want to spiral into a double dip recession - an economic crisis that could put future American prosperity in jeopardy - we must act now. Restoring our conservative values in Washington this fall is imperative.

The only unemployment claims that should be filed in the next several months are those of the Members of Congress who have yet to get our economy on track. They [Congress] should be the only unemployed Americans.

Okay, Obama / Biden / Reid / Pelosi - the ball is in your court (and has been for two years now) show us where you are creating jobs or shut up and get out of the way of the private sector.

He can run a successful presidential campaign but he can't find qualified individuals that pay their taxes on time?

I really can't believe that somebody as smart as Barack Hussein Obama is this ignorant. These nominations of people who don't follow the law and don't pay their taxes is just another example of his attitude that "we won so we'll do what we want".

How will the "Stimulus" bill effect our economy?

As I've mentioned before, the GOP made two attempts (Bush-2003, McCain-2005) to stop the economic train wreck that we're currently in and they were thwarted both times by the DNC.

This is Friendship???

Anytime somebody tells you "I want to apologize for what you are about to hear" you can bet that you're not going to like what you hear next. This just makes common sense. And if you've read much of this blog, you can easily tell that I'm (sorta) paying attention to this year's politics.

Now (in the way of context), I have been very blessed to have a lot of people that I consider friends in my life. Some of these friends are very close to me. And I have had more than one disagreement with a close friend and we have remained friends. Being able to "agree to disagree" with someone is an important part of any relationship that is more than superficial.

With that in mind you can see why I was so surprised to hear on the radio Wednesday afternoon that Rev. Jesse Jackson was apologizing for "crude and hurtful remarks" that he made "in a private conversation" in front of a "hot mic". You know how radio commentators will say "Today [politician] said '' blah blah blah" and then the politician will say "No, that's not what I meant - you misquoted me", etc, etc? As I was driving down the road I kept waiting for the quote - nobody ever said what *exactly* his remarks were.

Then it hit me. Are we talking "FCC violation" crude? Holy cow, Jesse, what did you say this time?! After some searching, a video snip from "The O'Reilly Factor" turned up. You can see the video for yourself here. This is not the full clip and it is not an "FCC violation". Apparently Jesse also made some racist remarks against white people. But this is just the part that would offend B. Hussein Obama.

NOT my idea of friendship.

Pardon my hiatus...

The funniest thing I've heard lately was from Rush Limbaugh. The other day he said that, even when/if Barack Obama secures the Democratic nomination, Operation Chaos will not be over. He said that he is moving Operation Chaos into the next phase and now he will try to convince Republicans to cross over and vote for McCain.

Okay, you're right - that's not funny - it's sad. Sad but true.
